Tips for Housing Providers - Posting Rental Ads

ˇ Practice reading and posting advertisements, you’ll discover what type of ad or wording works best for you.

ˇ Consider what renters are seeking. What are they saying in their posts. Don’t forget to look around the resource site and visit the resource topics such as “help” or "FAQ". These sections may also alert you to any issues occurring with scam advertisements or rogues. Sometime, there is quite a separate section regarding SCAM or Phishing, on big sites. Check also how many ads have the other part, that could tell you more about who posts on the site.

ˇ Save time and money and avoid searching new or poorly executed web sites. These will have a small audience with fewer relevant posts than real posted advertisements. After you enter and register at the site you can post your ad. Be alert to sites with faked content that is planted in an attempt to make the site look busier than it actually is.

ˇ One negative sign is a lot of ads done in the same manner as if the same person did them. Many new sites will block you from talking freely with other users. They will require you to first pay for a “premium service” that only does what you would expect from a basic service.

ˇ On big sites you can opt to have an account and a user name and hide your email or phone while receiving emails from site. Chances are you will have less scams or rogues to deal with. If you post an ad wanting to rent as an owner or tenant (sublet) be ready with at least 3 photos to upload on the following sites and have the postal code of your location, so that you can use the “Google map” option offered by the sites.
